The Team New Zealand boat Camper is clinging to its lead on leg four of the Volvo Ocean Race to Auckland with the other boats gaining quickly on the New Zealanders.
Puma clawed back 150 nautical miles from their rivals in under 24 hours while overall leaders Telefonica have taken a much more southerly route and are also gaining on leg pacesetters Camper.
Camper hold an advantage of just 14.7 nautical miles from Telefonica, with French team Groupama in third place but handily positioned as the most easterly boat.
Puma remained in last place but with their spirits revived and every expectation of making up more miles.
Over the next few days, the teams will turn south and head directly for Auckland, the fifth of 10 stopovers in the 2011-12 race, which is due to finish in Galway in July.
The fleet should arrive in New Zealand at the end of Leg 4 between March the 8th and 10th.
