The Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy could soon be the new world number one, having made the final of the WGC world matchplay championship in Arizona.
In the semi-finals, McIlroy overturned an early three hole deficit to beat England's Lee Westwood 3 and 1, while Hunter Mahan beat his American countryman Mark Wilson 2 and 1.
Victory for 22 year old McIlroy in the final would make him the second youngest world number one in history, behind Tiger Woods.
