Phoenix need game against Gold Coast to go ahead says club chairman

The Wellington Phoenix chairman Rob Morrison says it would be a blow to the momentum of the side if this Sunday's game against Gold Coast doesn't go ahead as scheduled.

The Football Federation of Australia boss Frank Lowy, announced yesterday he had no alternative but to revoke Gold Coast's licence to protect the integrity of the competition following the club owner's "flagrant disregard" for A-League rules.

Phoenix chairman Rob Morrison says the club is working with the FFA to explore every avenue possible to ensure the home game is played.

He says if Gold Coast have to default the Phoenix would pick up three points, but says that's not the preferred outcome.

Rob Morrison says a decision will have to be made by tomorrow night or Saturday morning at the latest.
