Durante says FFA had no option but to revoke Gold Coast licence

The Wellington Phoenix football captain Andrew Durante says Football Federation Australia had no option but to revoke the A-League licence of Gold Coast United owner Clive Palmer.

The FFA has told the Phoenix that their match against Gold Coast in Wellington on Sunday will still go ahead.

Palmer has been involved in an on going battle with the FFA over their administration of the game with the organisation losing patience and stripping him of his competition licence on Wednesday saying the club had brought game into disrepute.

Durante says it's disppointing the situation has come about with only four games to go but the FFA has been backed into a corner and had to act.

He says his major concern is for the Gold Coast players and hopes the FFA honours their contracts.
