Takeaway store owner in coma after vicious attack

The police are investigating an unprovoked and vicious assault on a takeaway store owner on Auckland's North Shore.

A 39-year-old man is in a coma in intensive care at Auckland Hospital, after being assaulted at his kebab store on Wairau Road in Glenfield about 11pm on Thursday.

The police say he suffered severe facial wounds during the attack by two males and the injuries he has suffered are horrific.

Detective Sergeant Adam Lough says officers are checking security footage and conducting a scene examination.

"We know that two male offenders were involved and assualted the owner of the All Go kebab shop in Wairau Road. The assault occured inside the premises where it was quite a vicious and sustained attack," he says.
