New Zealand Solicitor-General David Collins, QC, is being investigated by police.
A police spokesperson confirmed on Friday that a complaint has been received relating to Dr Collins, but would not provide any details relating to the nature of the complaint.
He said the investigation was being carried out by a senior officer and Dr Collins was aware of the matter.
