Networks likely to reach deal over Rugby World Cup

Updated at 3:25pm on 3 October 2008

A deal between private and state television to screen the 2011 Rugby World Cup is looking likely.

SKY TV and TV3 have confirmed that they and state broadcaster Television New Zealand are in joint negotiations to share the screening rights for the event.

They would have to reach a deal with the International Rugby Board agent IMG and would screen different matches, but it means more free rugby for fans.
