NZ patrol hit by bomb in Afghanistan

A New Zealand patrol has been hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

One soldier sufffered a minor cut to the face and a vehicle was damaged.

The device went off at 3.30pm on Tuesday (local time) in the same area where another New Zealand patrol was hit in March.

The area where it happened is known for having tribal and criminal tensions between different groups.

The injured patrol member has returned to active duty.

New Zealand has 100 personnel involved in a Provincial Reconstruction Team, which is charged with improving security and helping reconstruction in Afghanistan.
