Earthquake in Fiordland

There was a shallow earthquake in Fiordland early on Wednesday morning.

It occurred 12.05am and measured 4.2 on the Richter scale. GNS Science says it was 60km north-west of Te Anau, at a focal depth of 15km.

Two other quakes were recorded in the region last week, including one measuring 4 at 11.21am on Thursday, 20 November. It was 80km south-west of Milford Sound at a depth of 15km.

The other was at 3.52am on Wednesday, 19 November, measuring 3.9, 20km south-west of Twizel at a depth of 5km.
