The Environmental Risk Management Authority has banned the use of a deadly chemical pesticide that is no longer sold in this country.
ERMA has been reviewing the use of methyl parathion, a broad-spectrum organophosphate pesticide, as part of its reassessment of the continued use of some agrichemicals.
It says the pesticide has been used to kill insects and mites but no products containing it have been registered in this country since 2004.
The Authority has received eight public submissions on the use of the pesticide since September, all in favour of it being banned.
It says anyone who still has products containing methyl parathion should contact their regional council to have the products disposed of.
