The father of the two men convicted of killing Nia Glassie has been found guilty of assaulting the three-year-old girl.
The jury in the Rotorua District Court returned its verdict on Thursday after a one-day trial.
William Curtis, 49, was found guilty on eight charges, which included hitting and kicking the girl and threatening to stomp on her head.
One charge of assault using a weapon related to him tying a scarf around Nia's neck swinging her off the ground until she turned purple, and then dropping her to the floor.
The Crown's main witness was Curtis' daughter, Hoana, who told the court of witnessing frequent assaults on the toddler.
The defence tried to paint her as a liar and an unreliable, troubled and dysfunctional young woman.
Curtis was remanded until January for sentencing.
