More Aucklanders using public transport

Use of public transport in Auckland is up by nearly 10%.

About 15 million trips were made in the three months to September - an increase of 9.3% compared to the same period last year.

The rise has been attributed to increased fuel costs during winter.

However, Auckland Regional Council transport committee chair Christine Rose says the standard of services was also a factor.

She is calling it a slow revolution, saying that the more people get out of their cars, the more they see the benefits of public transport.
