Genesis Energy is one step closer towards its proposed power station north of Auckland.
Two resource consent applications have been filed with the Auckland Regional Council and Rodney District Council for the proposed power station between Helensville and Kaukapakapa.
The ARC has given the project permission to carry out earthworks at the site, however it has set out a number of conditions to manage the environmental impacts.
The Rodney District Council is still considering an application to to physically build the power station.
It expects to make its decision by the end of February.
