Thunderstorms have again struck south-east Queensland, bringing 90 lightning strikes a minute.

It says the hardest hit areas ranged from the Gold Coast to the Gold Coast hinterland and the Logan and Beenleigh areas.

It was the seventh severe weather event in the last seven weeks.

Emergency crews received 84 calls for help on the Gold Coast and 40 houses were damaged.
