Polish presentation to search volunteers

9:58 pm on 15 January 2009

The Polish Ambassador to New Zealand has officially recognised Search and Rescue volunteers for their efforts in trying to find a Polish man last year in the Rimutaka Forest Park.

Jacek Grzybowski, 28, failed to return from a day tramp in the area north of Wellington last May. Despite a saturation search it was only

after four days that Mr Grzybowski's body was found trapped in a stream logjam.

Graham Bury of the Search and Rescue team says the team has been presented with a framed copy of a letter written on behalf of the dead man's parents.
