Volunteer searchers have been officially recognised by the Polish Ambassador for their efforts in trying to find a Polish man last year in the Rimutaka Forest Park.
Jacek Grzybowski, 28, failed to return from a day tramp in the area last May.
Searchers covered the area on foot, until his body was found after four days trapped in a log jam in a stream.
The team was presented on Thursday night with a framed copy of a letter written on behalf of the man's parents.
