A three-year-old boy has been killed while riding a push scooter in Blenheim on Sunday.
Police say a car reversing out of a driveway hit the boy as he was riding the scooter along the footpath.
He was taken to Wairau Hospital, but died about an hour later.
The serious crash unit is investigating and police say it's too soon to say whether charges will be laid against the driver of the car.
