The Crown has called its final witness at a depositions hearing for seven men charged in relation to the death of a South Auckland liquor store owner.

Navtej Singh, 30, was killed in June last year after being shot during an aggravated robbery in his store.

Four men are accused of his murder. They are: Jason Naseri, Anitelea Chan Kee, Myron Felise and Tino Felise.

On Thursday, two witnesses for the Crown appeared at Manukau District Court.

Detective Constable Mark Hammond spoke with Mr Naseri five days after Mr Singh was killed, and Rapture Tafeamalii had been drinking with the accused in the garage of a South Auckland house the day Mr Singh was shot.

During a police interview shown in court on Thursday, Mr Naseri, 20, told Mr Hammond that he had spent the evening at a Burger King outlet with his girlfriend the day Mr Singh was attacked.

Earlier, Mr Tafeamalii, 18, told the court he had recognised Mr Naseri, Mr Kee and Myron Felise on CCTV footage broadcast on the 6pm television news the day after the incident.

Mr Tafeamalii said Mr Naseri and Myron Felise turned up at the house two days after the robbery, both in a state of shock. Mr Naseri had returned to pick up a bottle of vodka stolen during the robbery.

Mr Naseri said he knew nothing of the robbery, other than what he had seen on the news.

The court will decide on Friday if the case will go to trial.
