Waterford Wedgwood has ceased manufacturing in Ireland.

Receivers were called in earlier this month.

Receivers Deloitte said on Friday that it was in talks with interested parties about selling the company's assets and did not rule out a resumption of operations in Waterford where crystal tableware is made.

Waterford Wedgwood was founded 250 years ago. The company warned in December that it would not be able to pay interest to bondholders.

The company has already moved a lot of production to Asia. The group has some 8000 employees worldwide.
