Store group backs stance on tobacco displays

The Association for Convenience Stores says it is pleased the Government is not showing any support for banning displays of tobacco products in retail outlets.

A Cancer Society lobby group, Protect our Children, this week sent a letter to all MPs about tobacco advertising.

The Government has no plans at present to ban the display of cigarette products in retail shops.

The Association for Convenience Stores says there is no international evidence to support a ban and says the Government's stance is a sign that common sense is prevailing.
