The Green Party says it's disgraceful for Prime Minister John Key to suggest people give their tax cut to charity, when people are struggling to make ends meet.

Mr Key says if people don't want to spend, save or repay debts with the tax cut on 1 April, they should consider giving the money to those more needy.

Green MP Sue Bradford says that's rubbing salt into the wounds of lower-income earners who don't get tax cuts.
