Fisheries officers are to charge a man with selling black market rock lobster from the boot of his car in Whangarei.
The Ministry of Fisheries says the 50-year-old retired commercial fisherman had been selling the rock lobster for between $15 and $30 each.
Officers received a tip-off from members of the public last week.
The ministry says the man faces charges which could result in fines of up to $250,000 and the possible forfeiture of vehicles and dive gear.
