Orcon to cut more jobs

5:18 am on 6 May 2009

Orcon is to lay off more employees, as it looks to cut costs in anticipation of a more challenging year.

The state owned telecommunications company says it is on target to meet its current profit objectives for the year, but expects the market to get tougher.

Orcon says it plans to lay off 23 of its 144 staff, but says numbers may change as a result of consultation with employees.

The company says the proposal involves staff across all levels and divisions of the business.
