A student who returned to Vietnam from the United States has been confirmed as having the H1N1 influenza virus, the first case of swine flu in the Southeast Asian country.
The Ho Chi Minh City-based Pasteur Institute has confirmed the man, 23, has the virus after lab tests.
Vietnam - which has grappled with the more deadly H5N1 bird flu virus in recent years - requires any suspected H1N1 cases to be isolated for seven days.
