A Melbourne travel agent says murder-accused Nai Yin Xue came into her office randomly selecting international destinations he could fly to that same night.

Mr Xue is on trial for the murder of his wife An An Liu in Auckland in 2007 shortly before he abandoned their daughter in Melbourne.

Travel agent Michelle Slade says Nai Yin Xue came to her office on 14 September 2007 - three days after the Crown alleges he strangled his wife.

He asked if he could fly to Los Angeles that night.

Ms Slade says that when she told him there were no flights to the United States he asked about London.

She says he then went to a world map and began looking for any city he could fly to that night.

Ms Slade says Mr Xue was uneasy and there was a sense of urgency in his requests.
