The police investigating a shooting incident in a Manawatu town searched a number of addresses on Saturday morning.

It's believed someone fired a shotgun through the window of a house in Dannevirke around 6.30pm on Thursday.

Seven people were in the house at the time, including a child, and one woman received minor injuries.

Search warrants were executed on Saturday by officers, including members of the Armed Offenders Squad, and evidence believed to be linked to the shooting was found at one address.

The police are not revealing what evidence was found, saying it could jeopardise the investigation.

Earlier police reported it was possible the incident was gang related.

Police spokesperson Kim Perks said the occupants of the house did not hear a vehicle, so the offender may have been on foot.

She said the weapon used may have been a shotgun, but it is not known how many shots were fired.
