Watch being kept on North Korean ship

International monitors are watching a North Korean ship that put to sea last week.

The Kang Nam 1 is suspected of carrying weapons technology and could be headed for Burma. It is being tracked by the USS John S McCain.

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that there has been no decision yet to hail the Kang Nam,

It is the first North Korean ship to be monitored under a new UN security resolution that bars Pyongyang from exporting weapons including missile parts and nuclear materials.

The sanctions were adopted this month in response to a nuclear test by Pyongyang on 25 May.
