A man and woman are dead following a shooting in Rotorua.
The bodies were found by armed police after they received a report of a double shooting at a house in the suburb of Mangakakahi about 4.40pm on Thursday.
Police say the man and woman knew each other.
The armed offenders squad cordoned off the house and cleared the property on Sunset Road, before discovering the bodies of a man and woman outside.
A .22 calibre rifle was also found near the bodies and police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Police say a member of the public who reported the gunshots was related to the deceased, but the nature of the relationships have not yet been confirmed.
Officers will guard the scene overnight on Thursday.
