More funding for health camps allows revamp at Rotorua

Increased funding of health camps will allow redevelopment of the Rotorua camp into a more whanau-oriented place.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett has boosted Government funding for the camps by $1.5 million to just over $14 million.

Te Puna Whaiora trust which runs the seven camps, says almost half of the clients are Maori.

Trust head Fiona Inkpen Waatea News the funding will allow a $2 million revamp of the Princess of Wales camp to go ahead.

Health camps have helped children and families over the past 80 years.
