Talks aimed at solving a political crisis in Honduras are deadlocked over proposals to reinstate deposed President Manuel Zelaya and form a unity government.
Mr Zelaya has agreed to a unity government, which would involve sharing power with some of his rivals. But a close aide said on Saturday those who ousted him in a coup on 28 June must be excluded.
The de facto government in Honduras has rejected any power-sharing arrangement and won't allow Mr Zelaya to return.
Mr Zelaya said in an interview with a Honduran radio station that he would return to Honduras in the coming days - despite warnings by the de facto government that he would be arrested.
The Honduran army was reported to be on maximum alert on Saturday.
