12:25 pm on 28 July 2009

A passport production centre built for the British government will open in Wellington at the end of the month.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office says the centre will create 21 jobs in the city and produce passports for people in Australasia.

It will be opened on 31 July by Britain's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Chris Bryant.
