Money recovered after bank robbery

Iraqi authorities say $US7 million worth of dinars stolen from a bank in Baghdad last Tuesday have been found at a house inside a government compound in the capital.

Two suspects are under arrest. A number of others are still being sought.

The BBC reports the robbery was one of the biggest Baghdad had ever seen.

Gunmen entered the bank at dawn, and fired at security guards, before using dynamite to open the vault where the money was kept. Eight guards were killed.

Security officials said there are links between the armed insurgency and organised crime in Iraq.
