Police have arrested a gang member in relation to an armed robbery that police say reeks of organised crime.
A number of Auckland properties have been searched after an armed motorbike heist in Kihikihi last week. The Armed Offenders Squad was used during the raids, and uncovered $50,000 worth of vehicles at one address.
The police say they believe the arrested man is a member of the Tribesman gang. The 31-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, and will appear in the Manukau District Court on Friday.
Last Wednesday, police arrested a man on similar charges in relation to the Kihikihi robbery, after cordoning off a property in Huntly. Earlier that day, a group of men stole four motorcycles during an armed hold-up.
Detective Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering says the police are searching for another three people in relation to the robbery.
