The Police said on Saturday that a forensic dental examination of a skeleton found in a creek north of Auckland has confirmed the body as that of missing woman Alanah Brough.

The skeleton was found in Stanmore Bay on the Whangaparoa Peninsula by two children playing, on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old mother of two was last seen leaving her Whangaparoa house on foot on 30 January.

At the time the Police said it was thought Alanah Brough had mental health or drug problems.

The Police in Orewa say the matter has now been referred to the coroner.
