American Express is offering a new foreign currency service to companies making international payments.

The international credit card firm is looking to establish a presence in market dominated by banks.

The service, which includes a telegraphic transfer, drafts or cross currency payments, is focused on small to medium sized businesses.

American Express says it will waive fees on foreign currency transactions above $10,000. Below that level, a $10 transaction fee will apply.
