Police investigate 'brazen' attack on tourist

7:27 pm on 1 September 2009

Police are investigating an alleged sex attack on a tourist in Opotiki in the Bay of Plenty.

It is understood two men entered a house last on Monday night and forced their way into the 22-year-old woman's bedroom before both assaulted and sexually violated her.

Other people in the house at the time were unaware of the attack until the intruders had left.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen says the nature of the attack is very serious and alarming due to its brazen nature.

Police are keen to hear about suspicious activity in Ford Street and Goring Street around 10pm on Monday.
