NZ sharemarket up slightly

The NZX 50 index rose 9 points, or 0.3%, to 3146 during Monday morning trading.

Telecom was up 1 cent at $2.73, Fletcher Building up 4 cents to $7.99 and Contact Energy rose 9 cents to $6.15

Wellington Drive Technologies is up less than half a cent, or 4%, to 0.9 of a cent, after saying it plans to raise $8.5 million from its main shareholder

The Warehouse was down 7 cents to $4.18, Pumpkin Patch was unchanged at $1.95 as was Sky Television at $4.75, while Sky City Entertainment rise 2 cents to $3.30.

Turnover was $13 million.

In currency markets the dollar was trading at 70.18 US cents, 81.76 Australian, 42.23 pence, 63.63 yen, and 0.4827 euro. The TWI stood at 64.14.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was down 16 points, or 0.3%, to 4579 in early trading.
