Banned Dutch MP wins appeal

A Dutch MP who faces prosecution in his homeland for anti-Islamic remarks has won an appeal against a ban from entering Britain.

Geert Wilders was barred in February because British ministers said his presence would threaten community harmony and public safety.

Mr Wilders has compared Islam to Nazism. He faces prosecution in an Amsterdam court for inciting hatred and discrimination.

He had planned a showing in the British parliament of a film that he produiced: Fitna argues the Koran incites violence.

However, he was turned back after landing at Heathrow airport.

The Asylum & Immigration Tribunal overturned the decision on Tuesday.
