The number of people migrating to New Zealand reached a five-year high in the year ending September.
Statistics New Zealand says for the year to September, the annual net gain was 17,000 compared with 4,400 the previous year.
The increase is mainly due to New Zealanders returning from overseas and others prefering to stay at home.
