Armed robbery at Huntly bank

3:46 pm on 3 November 2009

Waikato police are investigating the aggravated robbery of security guards delivering money to a bank in Huntly.

They say three men, wearing balaclavas, entered the ANZ Bank in the town's main street shortly after midday and presented a firearm at two Armourguard officers reloading an ATM machine inside the bank.

They fled with an undisclosed sum of money in a blue Mitsubishi Legnum car, which was later found abandoned at a Mobil service station, not far from the main street.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the occupants of the car acting suspiciously near the bank or when the car was dumped at the service station.
