Teething troubles for Hide

Updated at 3:08pm on 11 November 2009

Local Government Minister Rodney Hide has asked his dental surgery to remove his endorsement of services from its website, because it breaches Cabinet rules.

Mr Hide agreed to his before and after photos being posted, along with a written endorsement, when he had treatment carried out in 2007.

The Cabinet manual states that no minister should endorse, in any media, any product or service.

Mr Hide says he had the work done before he was a minister, and had forgotten about the endorsement.

He says he has asked for it to be removed, because it's also a distraction from him getting on with his job.
