Cricketer Jesse Ryder has been fined and censured for verbally abusing Black Caps manager Dave Currie during the Champions Trophy tournament in South Africa.

Ryder went before a disciplinary hearing last month after being charged with misconduct during the tournament.

The matter arose in the semi-final against Sri Lanka when, dismissed for 74, Ryder walked from the field and smashed a chair with his bat.

He was fined 15% of his match fee for that but abused Currie, who'd reprimanded him, which led to the hearing.
