Updated at 9:01pm on 26 November 2009

The team of Melbourne doctors and nurses who separated twins Trishna and Krishna have been honoured at a reception at Victoria's Government House.

The reception was held as the Royal Children's Hospital released new photographs of the twins, who are out of intensive care and recovering in a general ward.

It is 10 days since they were separated in a marathon operation.

Both girls are now sitting up, watching DVDs and playing together.

They will have physical therapy to learn to walk.

The hospital head's of neurosurgery, Wirginia Maixner, described the successful surgery as an "incredible accomplishment".
