A group of schools that deliver classes mainly in Te Reo Maori accuses the Qualification Authority of being unfair to their students.
Nga Kura a Iwi o Aotearoa says there is a double standard regarding a Maori qualification: it's delivered in Maori and in English, but both exams are worth 12 credits.
Chairperson Pem Bird says this is totally unfair as total immersion students choose to sit the Maori exam in order to test their true competency, while other students receive the same credits without really testing their language skills.
He wants Education Minister Anne Tolley to address the matter.
Ms Tolley says she's asked NZQA for information about the exam.
