An 18-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery after a Rotorua dairy was held up for a small amount of money and a packet of tobacco.

Police say the robber demanded money and cigarettes at knifepoint after entering the Kawaha Point Dairy on Monday.

The dairy owners were shaken but unharmed.

The police say clear CCTV footage from inside the dairy was a key factor in making an arrest.

The arrested teenager is due to appear in the Rotorua District Court on Saturday.
