Woman seriously injured in home invasion attack

8:57 pm on 7 January 2010

A woman has serious facial injures after being savagely beaten during a home invasion on Auckland's North Shore.

The woman and three friends sleeping at the property in Glenfield were rounded up by four offenders who burst into the house at about 2pm on Thursday, the police say.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby says the attackers knew one of the occupants' names and seemed to know their way around the house.

Mr Libby says the 45-year-old woman is in Middlemore hospital with serious facial injuries and they won't be able to interview her until she has had an operation scheduled for Friday morning. No one else was injured.

A laptop computer was stolen but the police and the victims are still assessing what else was taken.
