Health Minister Tony Ryall says New Zealand is well prepared for a second wave of swine flu.
Health authorities have been preparing for months for a second wave of swine flu, which they say could occur earlier than normal for the usual surge of winter flu.
So-called early-bird vaccinations for healthcare workers and those most at risk from swine flu have begun, with the main vaccination campaign set to begin in March.
That's when most people will be offered a single-dose vaccine covering swine flu and two other seasonal strains.
Mr Ryall says he's confident supplies of this vaccine will arrive in March. Authorities have updated their pandemic plans, he says, and are prepared.
