A woman who crushed her fingers in a log splitter on a remote property in the Marlborough Sounds has been flown to Blenheim Hospital.

The WestpacTrust Rescue Helicopter was sent from Wellington to pick the woman up from Kenepuru Sound between Havelock and Picton and take her to Blenheim on Sunday.

Paramedics feared the patient, believed to be aged about 60, may have lost at least one finger.
