Grenade attacks hit Rwandan capital

10:41 am on 21 February 2010

Reports from Rwanda say at least one person has been killed by grenade attacks in the capital, Kigali.

A bus station, a restaurant and another building housing several businesses were targeted, state radio said.

It is not clear who carried out the attacks, which come ahead of a planned visit next week by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Tension is increasing as the country prepares for elections in August, the BBC reports, but it is not clear whether there are any links between the explosions and the elections.
