Capital from KiwiSaver schemes urged for infrastructure

11:12 am on 6 March 2010

Tower Investments wants the Government to allow KiwiSaver schemes to contribute capital to public private partnerships to develop infrastructure.

Chief executive Sam Stubbs says public private partnerships are the logical anwer to the multi-billion dollar, multi-decade funding needs of infrastructural development.

Mr Stubbs says KiwiSaver-sourced capital is growing by the day, but there is a shortage of suitable places to invest it.

He says schools, roads and hospitals could provide a attractive stable return for investors.
